The EU is supporting Ukraine's efforts to restructure its migration management approach that includes the operational framework related to the detention of irregular migrants. Within the framework of the EU-Ukraine Readmission Agreement, ratified by Ukraine on 15 January 2008, Ukraine was given a 2 year transition period to prepare infrastructure and conditions for the reception of third country nationals.
