“Combat the Negative Effects of Chernobyl Disaster in Belarus”: Contest of the Project Ideas

The EU-funded project to ‘Combat the Negative Effects of Chernobyl Disaster in Belarus’ has announced a contest of project ideas for implementation in four districts: Buda-Koshelevo, Vetka, Zhitkovichi and Khoiniki districts of Gomel Region.
Following the contest results, the most interesting and economically viable project initiatives solving socio-economical and environmental problems, as well as those addressing employment issues and economic development, will be selected for funding, according to a press release from the EU Delegation in Belarus.
The financial assistance will be available in amounts up to $50,000 covering up to 50% of the total project budget costs.
Experience of project implementation in Chernobyl-affected area shows that many residents of contaminated districts actively and enthusiastically participated in solving problems of their districts, the press release said, stressing that such projects could change people’s lives. (ENPI Info Centre)
