EU supports Cultural Outpost in Russia

An exhibition of plein air painting opens today at a newly founded regional cultural and educational centre in Russia, created under and EU-funded project, according to a press release from the EU Delegation to Russia.

It is taking place at the same time as the wrap-up conference of the project Znamenskoye Rayok - Cultural Outpost, which was funded by the EU under the Institution Building Partnership Programme that supports EU-Russia cultural cooperation initiatives with a total budget of €2 million.

Znamenskoye Rayok (Tver oblast) is a unique estate complex of the 18th-19th centuries located in the Tver region on the Moscow–St. Petersburg road. In the course of the project’s implementation it has become a place to demonstrate cultural achievements through inter-regional exhibitions, festivals and other cultural events. The creation of this centre has helped to attract a significant number of tourists and increase the tourism potential of the whole region.

The Cultural Outpost also hosted an international volunteers’ camp and educational workshops for managers of cultural heritage and landscape architects. (ENPI Info Centre)
