New EU-funded project to support reforms in energy sector in Ukraine

In an effort to contribute to setting up an institutional framework between the European Union and Ukraine in the area of energy cooperation, the EU has launched a new technical assistance project in the country under the title “Capacity Building of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation”.

A press release from the EU Delegation said the project was part of the €63 million Sector Policy Support Programme (SPSP), launched between Ukraine and the EU in 2009, and implemented by the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation of Ukraine (SAEEEC).

The overall objective is to strengthen the overall capacity of SAEEEC in order to foster EU-Ukraine cooperation in the area of energy efficiency and in particular to meet all conditions associated with the disbursement of the three installments of the 2009-2012 SPSP on energy efficiency.

The project will run for 36 months with the total budget of €2,781,000. (ENPI Info Centre)
