230 organisations invited to second Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum

02-09-2010

A total of 230 Civil Society Organisations have been invited to participate in the second meeting of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum in Berlin (18-19 November 2010).

They were chosen from 562 applications from Civil Society Organisations from EU Member States, Eastern Partnership Countries, international networks and from third countries. The selection of participants was made by the Civil Society Forum Steering Committee, and approved by the European Commission.

At the beginning of August, the European Commission informed all applicants of the results of the selection.

The Civil Society Forum aims to represent a wide range of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs): trade unions, employers' organisations, professional associations, NGOs, think-tanks, non-profit foundations, national and international CSOs/networks and other relevant Civil Society actors from Partner Countries, but also from EU Member States and international organisations and networks.

The overall aim of the Forum is to promote contacts among Civil Society Organisations and facilitate their dialogue with public authorities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The meeting will give an opportunity to take stock of what has been achieved since November 2009 when the first meeting of the Forum took place and to discuss how the Forum should evolve in the future.

The list of invited CSOs will be made public before the Forum, once the European Commission has received confirmations regarding participation in the meeting from all invited CSOs.

The first EaP CSF took place on 16-17 November 2009 and gathered more than 200 civil society organizations. (ENPI Info Centre)
