EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton has welcomed the release of a Georgian prisoner held in Abkhazia.
A statement issued by her spokesperson said: “The High Representative welcomes the fact that one Georgian held in Abkhazia was released on Thursday, 9 September by the de facto authorities in Sukhumi, as a result of facilitation by the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby.”
