EURO 2012: border mission distributes 400,000 leaflets for fans outlining key info from customs tips to drinking rules

The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) has presented an information leaflet for football fans called the ‘Border Crossing and Security Guide for UEFA EURO 2012’ a week before EURO 2012 kicks off. The leaflet includes important information on border crossing, customs limits, and security issues, as well as contact numbers for the embassies of participating countries, in both Ukraine and Poland.
 
It is the result of a joint initiative of the Ukrainian and Polish border guard and customs services and their ministries of internal affairs.
 
The leaflet contains border crossing rules and tips, visa information, customs info, and driving rules, a list of items prohibited in stadia, drinking and smoking rules in both host countries, and emergency numbers and embassy contacts.
 
With the assistance of its Ukrainian and Polish partners, EUBAM has already printed and distributed 400,000 copies of the leaflet to host city airports in Ukraine and Poland and to border crossing points in both countries, mainly at the border crossing points on the Poland-Ukraine border. It has also disseminated the leaflet electronically via uefa.com and other web portals. It is being made available in eight languages: Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
 
For the duration of EURO 2012, and in order to support effective border control and enhance security measures, EUBAM will also be intensifying its operational support to its partners at key locations on both sides of the Moldova-Ukraine border.
 
EUBAM contributes to the delivery of good quality border and customs services to the citizens and companies of Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union. Together with border guard and customs services of the two countries, the Mission facilitates people-to-people contacts, legitimate trade and security. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
