INOGATE project announces course on Renewable Energy Regulation

The 'Capacity Building for Energy Regulators' project run under the INOGATE Programme has announced a Training Course on Renewable Energy Regulation.
 
According to an INOGATE press release, the training will take place between 13 and 15 September 2010 in Minsk, Belarus and will focus on the following issues:
  • Energy and climate change package of the EU;
  • Environmental policy instruments and their use in the energy sector;
  • Renewable energy and their grid integration;
  • Demand response management;
  • Smart metering case study (Italy).
The training will commence with a short presentation by each participating Partner Country on the potentials of the Renewable Energy Sector and its regulation status, followed by the case studies from the Czech Republic and Hungary.
 
Theh Training Course on Renewable Energy Regulation is a continuation to an Introduction to the Regulation of Electricity Markets Training that had taken place in June in Istanbul, Turkey and was organized by the project.
 
With the objectives to promote and advocate good and sound energy regulatory practices in the Partner Countries of the INOGATE Programme, the €330,000 'Capacity Building for Energy Regulators' project aims to create a network for information exchange and assistance among the energy regulators of the beneficiary countries; transfer information and best practices, establish a common regulatory environment based on EU principles; improve organizational performance including better tariff practices consistent with international methods and harmonized among the beneficiary countries; support and educate the beneficiary countries in carrying out their regulatory reforms.
 
The INOGATE Programme is an international energy co-operation programme between the EU, the littoral states of the Black and Caspian Seas and their neighbouring countries. The co-operation framework covers the areas of oil and gas, electricity, renewable energy and energy efficiency. 
 
The programme has four core objectives: Converging energy markets; Enhancing energy security; Supporting sustainable energy development; and Attracting investment towards energy projects. (ENPI Info Centre)
