EU-funded project to empower Georgian youth launched

An EU-funded project designed to encourage children to participate and play a leading role in their own development and the development of their communities has been launched in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The project, entitled Regional Children Action for Participation, will involve 1,600 students aged 14 to 18 from 20 schools. Through youth-led groups and assessments, participants will produce and present reports to local and central government and will work closely with the Parliament of Georgia to ensure that their recommendations are taken into consideration.

The €810,000 project is being organised by Save the Children and its partner Charity Humanitarian Centre Abkhazeti (CHCA), an NGO focused on empowering Georgia's internally displaced and vulnerable populations.

An opening event for the project was held on 18 March at the Hotel Ambassadori in Tbilisi.(ENPI Info Centre)
