Baltic Sea Strategy on the agenda at forthcoming EU-Russia talks

Progress in the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region will be one of the topics at the forthcoming round table on EU-Russia Cooperation. The discussions, which will take place 17 to 18 October in St Petersburg, will alos examine the achievements of the projects co-financed in the framework of the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013.

 
The forum is organised by the Russian State Duma along with the Federal Ministries of Finance, Regional Development and Economic Development and St.Petersburg City Administration.
 
The European Union’s Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 is a European Territorial Cooperation Programme which promotes regional development through trans-national cooperation. It provides funding to projects fostering innovations, improving accessibility, managing environmental resources and strengthening cities and regions in countries surrounding the Baltic Sea. An ENPI component has been added to the programme to allow third countries to participate in the projects. Project partners - Belarus, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden – are working together in trans-national projects. (ENPI Info Centre)
