East Alliance conference about supporting SMEs to take place on 25-26 April in Kyiv, Ukraine

The members of the East Alliance - the consortium of 84 partners implementing the East Invest programme - will meet in Kiev, Ukraine, on 25-26 April to take stock of the first year of activities and plan ahead. A press release said that the role of business-support organisations in the public-private dialogue and in investment promotion in the six Eastern Partnership countries is on the agenda as well.
 
The event is organised back to back with an OECD seminar on SME policy assessment in Eastern Partnership countries during which EUROCHAMBRES will present the results of the Trade Barriers Survey it has conducted with small and medium enterprises in the Eastern Partnership countries.
 
The East Invest programme is an €8.75 million EU-funded regional initiative to boost trade and investment in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood region through support to small and medium size enterprises. It was launched in 2011. East Invest seeks to develop business networking and multiply exchanges between EU and Eastern Neighbourhood Region public and private organisations, through encouraging public-private dialogue and promoting consultation of private sector in decision making; facilitating exchange of best practices and fostering partnerships between EU and Eastern Neighbourhood companies; and developing the capacity of Eastern Neighbourhood SME support organisations.
 
Implementation of the project is overseen by Eurochambres, the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry. (ENPI Info Centre)
