Survey results on unsustainable forest practices in the Gakh-Balakan region in Azerbaijan released
20-04-2012

Results from a round of surveys on unsustainable forest practices in the Gakh-Balakan region in Azerbaijan have confirmed the information obtained during the kick-off seminar in December 2011, namely the absence of transboundary smuggling of wood products in this specific region and the use of firewood due to poor gasification and infrastructure.
This information has been further processed and sent to ENPI FLEG’s Economic Analysis consultant for inclusion in a final report. Another round of sociological surveys is envisaged for April in the Zagatal district of Azerbaijan. The closing workshop with the participation of key stakeholders is expected to be held in May 2012 in the Gakh region.
