Green light for Black Sea cross border cooperation
02-07-2009The first call for proposals is open for the Black Sea littoral countries under the Cross Border Cooperation programme (CBC) funded by the EU through its European Neighbourhood Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
CBC projects under this call will benefit from the Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme 2007-2013 (JOP) that aims to promote economic and social development in the border areas and address common challenges. With an indicative budget of €3,642,506 under this first call, it will focus on the following priorities:
- Support cross-border partnerships for economic and social development that would facilitate regional information, communication, transport and trade links, create tourism networks and build administrative capacity to design and implement regional development policies;
- Help share resources for environmental protection and conservation by boosting cooperation initiatives and promoting research and innovation;
- Foster a common cultural environment through cultural networking and educational exchange in the Black Sea Basin communities.
The programme is extended to 10 countries, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. The deadline for submitting project proposals is 12 October at 16.00 local time.
