An integrated transport infrastructure is the linchpin for regional economic integration, leading to increased trade and growth in view of a future Euro-Mediterranean free trade area. At the centre of efforts to develop an effective infrastructure network is the EuroMed Transport Project, providing assistance for the harmonisation of transport frameworks and procedures across the region.
The development of inter-Mediterranean transport is the cornerstone for regional economic integration. It will lead to an increase in trade and a greater movement of passengers between north and south of the Mediterranean, believes Dalila Achour Limam, Assistant Manager and Event Coordinator of the EuroMed Transport Project in Tunis.
This is part of a series of features on projects funded by the EU’s Regional Programme, prepared by journalists and photographers on the ground or the ENPI Info Centre available in English, French and Arabic.
