ENPI Cross Border Cooperation holds annual conference in Rome

Current and future challenges will be the focus of the ENPI Cross Border Cooperation (CBC) annual Conference in Rome on 10-11 December, according to the website of the INTERACT ENPI project which supports the ENPI CBC programmes established along the EU's eastern and southern external borders.
The conference will bring together representative of the CBC programmes covering a range of regions from Karelia in the North-West of Russia to the Mediterranean and Black Sea basins.
The participants will have the opportunity to exchange experience and discuss the strategic initiatives relevant to the ENPI CBC area such as the Eastern Partnership.
The plenary session with the emphasis on more general issues will be followed by three parallel workshops that will focus on specific questions, such as project evaluation, selection and monitoring, as well as the procurement procedures.
The Conference is organised by the INTERACT ENPI in close co-operation with Lazio region in Italy and EuropeAid Cooperation Office.
ENPI Cross Border Cooperation aims to promote economic and social development in border areas. It strives to address common challenges, ensure efficient and secure borders and promote people-to-people cooperation. Its budget of €1.1 billion for 2007-2013 will cover the funding of 15 CBC programmes (9 land border, 3 sea crossing and 3 sea basin programmes) that have been identified on both sides of the EU's external borders in the East and in the South.
