‘Go East, Erasmus!’ – Science Ministers to meet in Poland to discuss expansion of programme

On 26 and 27 September, the Podlasie region of Poland will bring together the Ministers of Science of several EU and Eastern Partnership countries as well as representatives of the European Commission to discuss exchange programmes for students and researchers beyond the EU’s borders. A Presidency press release quotes the Polish Minister for Science and Higher Education, Barbara Kudrycka, saying: “The widest possible inclusion of students from Eastern Partnership countries in the Erasmus-Mundus exchange programme is of key importance”.
The meeting bringing together Science Ministers of France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova, Georgia, and Azerbaijan is part of the Eastern Partnership Summit organised under the auspices of the Polish Presidency in Warsaw at the end of September.
The Erasmus Mundus programme's overall aim is to promote European higher education, to help improve and enhance the career prospects of students and to promote intercultural understanding through cooperation with third countries, in accordance with EU external policy objectives in order to contribute to the sustainable development of third countries in the field of higher education.
