Georgian girl bands to be part of EUMM International Women's Day celebrations

The EU's Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) will be celebrating International Women's Day with a series of events, including a concert tour of Georgian girl bands. International Women’s Day, 8 March is celebrated across the European Union and is designated in many countries, like in Georgia, as a national holiday. The EUMM's theme for this year's celebrations is: 'Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures'.
The events involve young women in some way so that thousands of minds will be inspired to discover and use the best of their potentials and to develop life skills – in negotiation, leadership, conflict resolution, critical thinking, decision making and communication.
The main event for all the field offices - in Zugdidi, Gori and Mtskheta - is the concert tour of three well-known Georgian girl bands: Candy, which won the 2011 Junior Eurovision, Mari Dari and Bzikebi. During the concerts, the singers will talk with the audience about their route to success.

Concert dates, times and locations:
6 March, 4pm: Mtskheta Cultural House
7 March, 4pm: Gori Educational and Cultural Center (Kombinati)
8 March, 4pm: Zugdidi Shalva Dadiani Dramatic Theatre

In addition, the EUMM will be visiting schools to introduce Georgian women who are successful in their professions, such as a pilot, police officers, dance teachers and so on. All events are free of charge.
The EUMM is an unarmed civilian monitoring mission. It was established by the European Union on 15 September 2008 to contribute to the stabilisation of the situation on the ground following the August 2008 conflict. They monitor full compliance by all sides with the EU brokered Six-Point Agreement of 12 August, signed by both Georgia and Russia, and the Agreement on Implementing Measures of 8 September 2008.
