Manual on improving forest law enforcement in Russia approved as higher education textbook

A manual produced by the EU-funded forestry project ENPI FLEG, entitled ‘Improving Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in the Russian Federation’, has been officially approved as a textbook for higher education students specialising in forestry-related subjects.

The book, recently produced by the World Bank as part of its effort to implement the educational component of the EU-funded ENPI FLEG Programme country workplan, is being presented at an extended three-day target seminar on 4-6 April in Pushkino. The seminar brings together experts and educators in the field of forestry from Russia and other ENPI FLEG countries.

During the seminar, facilitated by the World Bank and the All-Russian Institute of Continuous Education in Forestry, participants and leading experts from all over the country are discussing the potential areas and forms of using the manual in training, retraining and advanced training for forest sector personnel within the system of higher and extended forest education. The seminar has generated a lot of interest among professors and instructors of forestry higher education institutions, the management and staff of forestry governance bodies and forest enterprises and NGO representatives.

The €6 million ENPI Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) programme supports governments, civil society and the private sector in the development of sound and sustainable forest management practices, including the prevention of illegal forestry activities. (ENPI Info Centre)
