EUBAM and Polish Central Bureau of Investigation sign joint cooperation statement
04-05-2012

The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) last week signed a joint statement on cooperation with the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Polish National Police Headquarters. According to an EUBAM press release, “the entry into formal cooperation of EUBAM and the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Polish National Police Headquarters would, said the statement, help to ‘strengthen the capacities of EUBAM partners to counteract transnational organised crime’”.
EUBAM’s press release described it as “a first joint statement on cooperation with a police service of an EU Member State”.
For the term of cooperation – from now until 30 November 2015 – both parties have agreed to engage in cooperative initiatives including training courses, particularly those dedicated to organised crime prevention, and training focusing on EU best practices and the Polish experience in fighting organised crime.
The parties will also conduct study visits to one another’s headquarters, and step up the exchange of operational information in order to more effectively tackle transnational organised crime.
The signatories to the Statement were the EUBAM Head of Mission, Udo Burkholder, and the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Polish National Police Headquarters, Adam Maruszczak.
EUBAM contributes to the delivery of good quality border and customs services to the citizens and companies of Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union. Together with border guard and customs services of the two countries, the Mission facilitates people-to-people contacts, legitimate trade and security. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
