Wide range of issues for Van Rompuy visit to Azerbaijan
03-07-2012

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy will discuss a wide range of issues during his official visit to Azerbaijan on 4-5 July, from energy and economic cooperation to the regional and international security. A press release said that in Baku Van Rompuy would meet President Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Energy and Industry Natig Aliyev and Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov. He is also expected to deliver a public speech at the University of Foreign Languages.
EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia said Van Rompuy’s visit was another illustration of the deepening relations between the EU and Azerbaijan. “We have a wide agenda on the table, ranging from discussion of the progress on the Association Agreement, mobility, energy and economic cooperation as well as issues related to the regional and international security, which will provide a strong foundation to advance our cooperation even further," said Roland Kobia.
President Van Rompuy’s meetings in Azerbaijan are part of his three-day official visit to the South Caucasus. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
