EU support to reform energy sector in Ukraine

The results of the €8.9 million assistance the EU is bringing to the Ukrainian energy sector will be presented at an event organised by the EU-funded Coal Sector Policy Support Programme and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine. According to a press release issued by the EU Delegation to Ukraine, over 100 participants representing Ministries, Regional Administrations, Scientific and Research Institutes and the international community are expected to attend the event, to be held Wednesday June 22.

EU assistance covers capacity building, development of a strategy (Master Plan) for the coal sector reform, environment, social and occupational health and safety related issues. The Programme Master Plan will be used by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry to outline the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2030. It will be implemented together with the Coal Industry Development Program for Ukraine (2011-2015). (ENPI Info Centre)
