Over one million euro available to support non-state actors in Tunisia

The European Commission has launched a restricted call for proposals for non-actors development initiatives in Tunisia for a budget of €1,200,000 under the programme “Non-state actors and local authorities in development”. The call reference is EuropeAid/131-665/L/ACT/TN.
The specific objective of this call is to support actions submitted by non-state actors which aim at promoting the participation of the poor in Tunisia in the definition and implementation of strategies and local development projects in the economic, social, cultural and environmental sectors, highlighting the human and natural resources of their own territory, and strengthening and promoting the role of non-state actors in the reforms and democratic changes in progress.

Priority will be given to actions aimed at:
• Improving living conditions sustainably by promoting the integration and inclusion of vulnerable or marginalized groups (women, youth, children, persons with disabilities, or living in poverty or insecurity)
• Maintaining and creating jobs mobilizing local human, cultural and natural resources by involving youth and women • Increasing the negotiating power of local producers to enable them to capture a growing share of the added -value in their local economic activities.
• Promoting the participation of non-state actors in policy dialogue and strengthening the interaction between non-state actors and authorities at national and local levels.
The Thematic Programme "Non State Actors and Local Authorities in Development" has the overall objective of supporting actions encouraging civil society to get more involved and active in the partner countries in order to benefit populations that are marginalized by the central authorities and excluded from the process of policy formulation, strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in partner countries to facilitate their participation in the formulation and implementation of poverty reduction and sustainable development strategies, and to facilitate interaction between state and non-state actors in different contexts.
