22-02-2012
The European Commission has launched an open call for proposals for a budget of €1.700.000 in Israel in the framework of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) and the Neighbourhood Civil Society Facility, under the reference EuropeAid/L/G/IL/132-526.
The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to contribute to promotion of respect for human rights in line with international and domestic standards and obligations and to the reinforcement of an enabling environment for non-state actors.
The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals are:
- Promoting a favourable environment for civil society organisations and the promotion of human rights, in particular by fostering human rights education and respect for the rule of law and international standards, supporting human rights defenders and organisations, safeguarding freedom of association and freedom of expression, fighting against xenophobia, racism, and discrimination on the basis of religion or belief, and any form of hate speech;
- Advancing the rights of vulnerable minorities or groups within Israel, in particular the Arab minority and refugees/asylum seekers;
- Respect for international humanitarian law and human rights in the occupied Palestinian Territory, including the rights of the children in armed conflicts;
The deadline for the submission of applications is 14 May 2012, at 16:00 local time.
The EU Delegation to Israel will be holding two information days on this Call for proposals, one on 27 February in Jerusalem and the other one on 28 February in Haifa. Registration is required by 23 February. (ENPI Info Centre)
