Europe in Israel: Delegation newsletter spotlights facebook page launch

The 8^th edition of the EU Delegation to Israel electronic newsletter leads with the launch of the delegation’s facebook page aimed at strengthening the link between the Israeli public and the EU."The European Union is keen to share with the Israeli public information on its unique activities and those of its member states in Israel", says David Kriss, Press & Information Manager at the Delegation.

‘Europe in Israel’, published in English and Hebrew, includes a series of reports on the activities of the EU Delegation and projects in Israel, among which an article on a football match involving Israeli and Jordanian children as part of a ‘Partnership for Peace’ project, as well as a feature on a pilot course, organised by the EU-funded ELAICH (Educational Linkage Approach in Cultural Heritage) project, during which 15 students were exposed to interactive teaching methods in lectures focusing on important aspects of cultural heritage such as preventive conservation, air pollution, historic building materials, conservation processes, earthquake protection, history and archaeology.

The publication also reports about the efforts of the EU-funded "Language as a Cultural Bridge" initiative to bridge a significant gap in the Israeli educational system and in the experience of Jewish and Arab children, by increasing the understanding of and familiarity with each other's language and culture.
