Between the Seas Festival: support young artists and you promote cultural dialogue

After the success of its first edition, the organisers of the Between the Seas Festival of Mediterranean performing arts in New York City are launching a fundraising campaign to hold the 2nd edition from 20 to 26 August 2012 at the Wild Project theatre in the heart of the East Village in New York.

The Festival organisers are hoping to collect the amount of $5,000 that will cover technical production fees and accommodation for international artists. Contributions can be made via the webpage http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1564706672/between-the-seas-festival, the amounts will only be charged if the organisers are successful in collecting the full amount.

Between the Seas is produced by Les Manouches Theatre Company under the artistic and producing direction of Aktina Stathaki. The Festival operates under the auspices of the Anna Lindh Foundation for Intercultural dialogue, Paralleli, Euromediterranean Institute and the International Association of the Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean.

The Anna Lindh Foundation for Inter-Cultural Dialogue promotes knowledge, mutual respect and inter-cultural dialogue between the people of the Euro-Mediterranean region, working through a network of more than 3,000 civil society organisations in 43 countries. Its budget is co-funded by the EU (€7 million) and the EU member states (€6 million).
