EU support to Tunisian lawyers

The Tunisian Higher Institute for Lawyers (Institut Supérieur de la Profession d’Avocat, ISPA) organised a discussion seminar on lawyers' training on 31 May 2012 in Tunis. This seminar was organised on the occasion of the launch of the EU support project to ISPA, in the framework of the Support programme to the Association Agreement and to the Neighbourhood Action Plan P3AII.

The ISPA management, appointed after the revolution of January 2011, has launched a debate to propose a reorganisation of the institute in order to fulfill its new mission: the training of future and practicing lawyers in order for them to acquire or reinforce the necessary skills for the exercise of their duties, which contribute to the establishment of justice and the defence of freedoms and human rights.

The seminar was opened by Mr. Noureddine Bhiri, Tunisian Minister of Justice, in the presence of Mr. Adrianus Koetsenruijter, the head of the EU Delegation in Tunisia. The different stakeholders are law students and ISPA graduates, lawyers and teachers, as well as civil society representatives. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
