CBCMed mid-term conference focuses on future challenges of and opportunities for Euro-Med cooperation

Current and future challenges relating to cross-border cooperation in the Mediterranean will be the main focus of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme in the Mediterranean (ENPI CBCMed) mid-term Conference, which is set to take place on 17 and 18 July in Rome.

Besides examining the results achieved by the programme so far, the conference intends to act as a platform for reflection and exchanges of views on future opportunities for cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region, according to an ENPI CBCMed press release.

In the context of the drafting of new EU regulations related to the EU’s Neighbourhood Policy, the conference aims to analyse to what extent this policy, especially its cross-border component, has changed Euro-Mediterranean relations. The conference will also gather information about the main stakeholders’ expectations from the upcoming 2014-2020 EU programming period.

The event will bring together a broad range of actors representing governments, EU institutions, regional authorities, municipalities and civil society.

The ‘ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007/2013’ is a multilateral cross-border cooperation programme co-financed by the EU and comes under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument. (EU Neighbourhood Info
