Forum in Tangier celebrates culture and tourism

Starting from today and for two days, Tangier is hosting the Culture and Tourism Forum, in collaboration with the Tourism Delegation and the International Higher Institute of Tourism (ISITT) at the Museum of the Kasbah. The Forum aims at promoting interaction between the city’s cultural and tourist operators, and making way for shared experiences among professionals in the Mediterranean basin. The event is carried out within the framework of Siwa and Tangier: a heritage for a better life, and EU-funded project under the Euromed Heritage IV regional programme.

The Forum revolves around three complementary components: a space for showcasing work and information about the tourism and cultural resources of the city of Tangier and its region, interventions and experience sharing in the mornings, and guided visits to the city in the afternoons.

'Siwa & Tangier: a heritage for a better life' is implemented by COSPE in partnership with SCDEC Association (Siwa Community Development and Environmental Conservation) in Siwa (Egypt) and the Kasbah Museum in Tangier (Morocco). The project aims to promote better knowledge and understanding of local cultural assets. The action builds around its aim of creating effective management tools for sustainable protection of the tangible and intangible heritage in Tangier and Siwa by fostering community participation and facilitating access to education and knowledge of cultural heritage.

EuroMed Heritage IV is a €17 million EU-funded programme which contributes to the exchange of experiences
on cultural heritage, creates networks and promotes cooperation with the Mediterranean Partner Countries. It focuses on the appropriation by the local populations of their cultural heritage and favours access to education and knowledge of cultural heritage. It supports a framework for the exchange of experiences, channels for the dissemination of best practices and new perspectives aimed at the development of an institutional cultural environment.
