Extended deadline to apply to documentary training for Arab filmmakers

Film producers and directors from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Occupied Territory, Syria and Tunisia now have until 15 December to apply to a training programme on documentary filmmaking to be organised in 2012 by the DocMed project, funded by the EU under the Euromed Audiovisual III programme.
 
The programme consists of three sessions of one week, over a period of one year:
Session 1: Development (March 2012)
Session 2: Budgeting, packaging and financing (June 2012)
Session 3: Meeting with the decision makers (March 2013)
 
The selected producers will be supervised by international experts and their projects presented in pitching forums to international commissioning editors, film funds directors, producers and distributors from the documentary international market.
 
DOCmed, a training programme implemented by Beirut DC (Lebanon), Eurodoc (France), and Doc à Tunis (Tunisia), in association with Arte France in the framework of the EU-funded Euromed Audiovisual III programme, works on international co-production of creative documentaries on a project basis. It is addressed to producers and directors/producers of Mediterranean Arab countries who are developing a project of international ambition. It aims at improving production standards, financing, and the management of documentary projects with international ambition, offering participants the opportunity to present their projects, helping them take on technological changes, setting up a network of professionals in the sector, and promoting exchange between Mediterranean and European audiovisual experts.  Each year, 10 professional documentary producers are chosen to participate in the DOCmed programme.
 
The Euromed Audiovisual III programme aims to contribute to the development and strengthening of the capacity of the film sector in the ENPI South region (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Syria, Tunisia) and to contribute significantly to mutual understanding, intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity, in line with the "Strategy for the Development of Euro-Mediterranean Audiovisual Cooperation", approved by Euromed culture ministers in Athens in May 2008. (ENPI Info Centre)
