Egypt: EU Delegation launches information campaign for higher education, research and innovation

The EU Delegation to Egypt has launched an information campaign to foster and reinforce networking activities among current and potential participants in EU programmes in the fields of higher education, research and innovation.

An information session took place at Assiut University last week, and others will be held at Alexandria University on 27 November and Cairo University on 1 December. The closing event of the campaign will be held on 8 December 2013 at the EU residence in Cairo gathering government officials and EU programme beneficiaries in Egypt – students, researchers, and university staff.
The campaign also aims to celebrate the various success stories among the beneficiaries of EU-funded programmes such as Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), and Research Development and Innovation (RDI), and to promote new funding opportunities in the framework of the forthcoming Erasmus Plus and Horizon 2020 programmes.
"Investing in education and developing human capital is essential to achieving sustainable development, growth and employment in Egypt, and international cooperation in research and innovation, especially with the EU and its member states, plays a key part in this. That is the core message of the campaign," said Ambassador James Moran, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt. He added that exchanges among students, professors, and staff of European and Egyptian Universities make an important contribution to the promotion of intercultural dialogue. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
