The External Service of the European Commission has over 130 Delegations and Offices in third countries, as well as at centresof international organisations. These Delegations play a key role in implementing the EU’s foreign policies. They serve EU interests by presenting, explaining and implementing EU policy; analysing and reporting on the policies and developments of the host countries; and conducting negotiations in accordance with a given mandate. They are described as the EC’s mouthpiece vis-à-vis the authorities and the general population.
