EuropeAid Feature - Support to the implementation of the Arab-Mediterranean Free Trade Agreement

The Agadir Agreement was signed in Rabat, Morocco on 25 February 2004 to establish a free trade area between Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco. As economic integration was the starting point of the EU, this experience is now transferred to Arab Mediterranean countries. The creation of a free trade area will increase competition, boost economic activity and employment, increase productivity and improve living standards. Technical issues are tackled in close cooperation between signatories and with the EU's financial and technical support.
