Delegation newsletter looks to 30 years of EU-Tunisia cooperation

13-01-2010

The EU Delegation in Tunisia has issued the seventh edition of its newsletter Europa focusing on the cooperation between the EU and the country, which marks its 30th anniversary in 2010.

“Today, the European Union supports Tunisia in achieving the modernisation and competitiveness of enterprises and facilitating their access to the market through several programmes, as well as in the development of secondary and higher education and vocational training and their interaction in the labour market. The Union, in 2010, will also be very active in its cooperation with Tunisia in the sustainable management of water resources in agriculture and in developing a sustainable strategy in the field of environment and energy control” says the Head of the EU Delegation to Tunisia, Adrianus Koetsenruijter, in the newsletter editorial.

The newsletter, published in French and Arabic, includes two articles on two bilateral projects, the new support programme to enhance competitiveness of Tunisian companies and a programme aiming to achieve a greater articulation between education, training, higher education and employment. The publication also contains an interview with the director of the National Environment Agency, a beneficiary of EU support in the control of water pollution, as well as a feature, produced by the ENPI Info Centre, highlighting the work of the water heritage REMEE, implemented under the regional programme EuroMed Heritage IV.

The newsletter also carries an article on the Lisbon Treaty in its section European Agenda, and a series of photographs and news.
