25-08-2010
Thirty officials from various Syrian ministries and organisations are participating to a training module on “Designing Health Benefit Packages and Targeting Beneficiaries” as part of a series of training courses in the healthcare sector funded by the EU under the Health Sector Modernisation Programme.
A Delegation press release said the course, taking place from 22 to 26 August in Damascus, is tailored within the Syrian context and will raise awareness of participants in determining benefit packages of health care services for various categories of beneficiaries.
Participants are representatives of various bodies including the Ministry of Health, the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Interior Affairs and Physicians Syndicate. The course will help participants better analyse needs and financing capacities to develop mechanisms for targeting publicly subsidised packages of health services, study the role of benefit packages in fulfilling health needs of target groups and achieving efficient utilisation of available resources as well as understand the ways of designing benefit packages according to health needs, burden of disease and available resources.
