EU-Israel Political Dialogue on the agenda at Brussels meeting

The Director for North Africa and the Middle East in the European External Action Service, Christian Berger, has met in Brussels with Deputy Director General Western European Affairs at the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Raphael Shutz, exchanging views on a broad range of subjects including the Middle East Peace Process, political developments in Israel and in the region, discussions on the implementation of the EU-Israel Action Plan as well possible areas for future cooperation.
 
The meeting was in the framework of the annual EU-Israel political dialogue, formally known as the Political Dialogue and Cooperation sub-committee, one of the 10 sub-committees established in 2005 under the European Neighbourhood Policy Action Plan agreed between the EU and Israel.
 
The EU-Israel Action Plan was the first of its kind to be adopted under the European Neighbourhood Policy. EU-Israel cooperation is wide-ranging, and spans from political dialogue and trade-related issues to transport, energy, environment and research. (ENPI Info Centre)
