Euromed Police III holds first training for Mediterranean Heads of Police and Gendarmerie academies

Seventeen officials representing the Colleges and Superior Training institutes of police and gendarmerie of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority and Tunisia came together on 11 and 12 April in Lyon, France for the first Conference of the heads of Police and Gendarmeries in the framework of the EU-funded Euromed Police III project.
 
The Conference addressed the theme "The environment of the officer", discussing how to improve the training of police and gendarmerie officers and to enable them better understand to an increasingly complex and changing environment.
 
The Conference was organised at the ENSP (French National Police College) of Saint Cyr Mont d'Or, with the contribution of French, Spanish and Portuguese experts from specialised research centres or universities, and from police and gendarmeries forces. 
 
Euromed Police III aims to enhance the professional capacities of the Police/Security services of the Southern Mediterranean countries as well as to develop international police cooperation, between EU member States and Southern Mediterranean countries as well as between Southern Mediterranean countries themselves in the field of combating major aspects of organised crime (terrorism, drugs-trafficking, trafficking in human beings, financial crime, cybercrime, weapons trafficking, smuggling and counterfeiting, risks induced by big events, etc.). Another long term objective is to create a network of police professionals for better cooperation and exchange of good practices and experience. (ENPI Info Centre)
