EU project takes Arab theatre texts to Avignon Festival

The Contemporary Arab Dramaturgy project, funded under the first standard call of the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme (CBCMed), is taking part in the Avignon Festival, one of the major performing arts festivals in the world.

The results of the first stage of the project, research and selection of unpublished theatrical texts, are to be presented and discussed during the Festival at the Cour du Cloître Saint-Louis, Avignon, France, according to a CBCMed press release

Contemporary Arab Dramaturgy is a 24-month long project focusing on the valorisation and diffusion of theatrical works from the Arab world. It aims to take part in the regeneration and spread of the Arab theatre repertoire, working with young artists, supporting the staging of plays, and promoting the spread of texts and performances throughout the Mediterranean basin and Europe.

The ‘ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007/2013’ is a multilateral cross-border cooperation programme co-financed by the EU under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument.
