European Cooperation Day 2012: sharing borders, growing closer!
07-08-2012
European Cooperation Day will be celebrated across Europe and in neighbouring countries for the first time ever on 21 September 2012. With 75 European Territorial Cooperation programmes on board, more than 100 local events will take place all over Europe during the week of 17 – 23 September.
A press release said the aim of the campaign, which carries the slogan “Sharing borders, growing closer,” is to celebrate the achievements of European cooperation. This will be an opportunity to discover all the improvements local initiatives have brought to all aspects of people’s daily life; from creating jobs, to improving health care services, and the protection of environment, transport or energy.
A website on European Cooperation Day 2012 has been launched, presenting a wide range of information on EU programmes and events, and featuring flagship stories, photos and videos.
The campaign is coordinated by the INTERACT Programme in association with the European Commission, and supported by the Committee of the Regions and the European Parliament. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
