EU launches 8.8 million euro call for proposals for peace building actions in the Middle East

The EU’s external cooperation office EuropeAid has launched an €8 million call for proposals (reference EuropeAid/130462/L/ACT/Multi) under its programme “EU Partnership for Peace 2010”, financed trough the ENPI.
 
The specific objectiveof this Call for Proposals is to strengthen civil society capacity and carry out actions to promote peace building and conflict transformation. The programme intends to support practical actions aimed at building mutual trust through reconciliation, building capacity for conflict resolution, empowering marginalized groups, launching joint development policies and strategies, and undertaking research and analysis.
 
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €8,800,000. Any grant awarded under this Call must fall between a minimum of €100,000 and a maximum of €500,000 and may not cover less than 50% of the total eligible costs of the action. In addition, no grant may exceed 80% of the total eligible costs of the action. The balance must be financed from the applicant's or partners' own resources, or from sources other than the European Union budget or the European Development Fund.
 
The initial planned duration of an action may not be shorter than 12 months nor exceed 36 months.
 
The deadline for submission of proposals is Monday, 22 November 2010 at 16:00.
 
The Office of the European Union Representative West Bank and Gaza Strip will be holding five information sessions throughout the Palestinian Territory to explain and answer applicants questions regarding the EU Partnership for Peace 2010 call for proposals.
