Service contract forecast for €4 million EuroMed Aviation II project
03-09-2010
The European Commission has published a forecast for a €4 million individual service contract for the EuroMed Regional Transport project – EuroMed Aviation II. The publication reference of the forecast is EuropeAid/130317/C/SER/Multi.
EuroMed Aviation II should further assist the Mediterranean partner governments, which have subscribed to the 2007 adopted Regional Transport Action Plan (RTAP) for the years 2007-2013, with the implementation of the dedicated RTAP actions on aviation. One of the actions for aviation is the establishment of the so-called Euro-Mediterranean Common Aviation Area (EMCAA).
The last meeting of the EuroMed Transport Forum's Working Group on Aviation last November 2009 adopted a declaration on working towards the establishment of the Common Aviation Area by means of a specific Road Map. This Road Map was developed during EuroMed Aviation I and its implementation is the main objective of the EuroMed Aviation II project.
The Road Map sets out a scenario for achieving the EMCAA, which includes the consecutive steps of agreeing on bilateral EuroMediterranean Aviation Agreements between the EU and the beneficiary Mediterranean partners followed by the conclusion of multilateral aviation agreements between the EU and the beneficiary Mediterranean partners, which will supersede the bilateral agreements.
The Road Map identifies 60 high level objectives and comprises Action Plans for each of the beneficiary Mediterranean partners to attain these 60 objectives. The project should assist the partner countries in implementing these Action Plans.
