10th FEMIP Conference: Mediterranean SMEs ready to break new ground

 The European Investment Bank (EIB), in collaboration with the Republic of Tunisia, will today in Tunis be hosting the 10th FEMIP Conference on the theme ‘Mediterranean SMEs: Ready to break new ground’.  The Conference will be attended by Tunisian Prime Minister Hammadi Jebali and will focus on supporting the private sector development and the EIB’s vocation as a long-term investor.

A press release said the high-level event, to be attended by representatives of banks and leading companies, fund managers, SME entrepreneurs and managers, academics in management/entrepreneurial education, researchers, SME associations and public officials, will address three main themes:
  • Access to diverse and competitive sources of financing as a primary obstacle to the development of the private sector;
  • Promoting entrepreneurship and Management education as a condition to ensure growth;
  • Reinforcing the international competitiveness of Mediterranean enterprises by repositioning them in the global market.
Since its creation in 2002, FEMIP has been involving the Mediterranean partner countries in its lending policy guidelines through constructive discussions on economic, financial and sectoral matters. This is now a three-way dialogue involving the FEMIP Ministerial Meeting, the FEMIP Committee and the FEMIP Conferences, held on both sides of the Mediterranean shores.
