Service Procurement Notice for Integrated Maritime Policy in the Mediterranean

The European Commission has relaunched its Service Procurement Notice for the EuroMed Regional Transport project – Integrated Maritime Policy for the Mediterranean, publication reference EuropeAid/128889/C/SER/RVS/MULTI.
 
According to the Contract Description, “the Mediterranean partner countries have expressed a vast interest in developing an Integrated Maritime Policy for the whole of the Mediterranean basin, and not only the EU part. This interest was repeated recently during a special session on maritime governance in the Mediterranean during the European Maritime Day which took place in Rome in May 2009.”
 
The project's objective is to promote such an integrated approach to maritime affairs also in the EuroMed partner countries and assist the Mediterranean partner countries with implementing it.
 
The project will consist of two main elements:
  • A number of meetings and workshops need to be organised for relevant Ministries and public bodies and other stakeholders, to raise awareness in all the different sectors involved and achieve a real cross-sectoral approach;
  • Technical assistance should be provided by experts to the administrations of the beneficiary countries in their preparation to adhere to the principles of the IMP in their administration and policy making frameworks.
 
The indicative maximum budget, funded under the ENPI South programme, is €1.5 million. The provisional commencement date of the 24-month contract is April 2010.
 
The deadline for receipt of applications is 3 January 2010.
 
Participation is open to legal persons established in an EU Member State or in a country or territory of the regions covered by the specific instruments applicable to the programme under which the contract is financed. It is also open to international organisations.
